A man armed with a baseball bat robbed a Hastings service station early today.
The aggravated robbery happened about 6.45am at the Shell Parkvale, Heretaunga Street East.
The offender, armed with a baseball bat, entered the store and demanded money from the attendant, said Detective Constable Brendan Campbell.
While the attendant was not harmed, the man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Mr Campbell said the robber was described as dark-skinned, of medium build and wearing a dark hooded vest.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area or may know the offender.
