The lower North Island experienced a 4.2 magnitude quake this morning.
The 6.59am quake was centred five kilometres from Kimbolton, near Palmerston North and was at a focal depth of 60 kilometres.
Seismologists said it was probably felt throughout the lower North Island, but were not expecting any damage.
