Labour Department inspectors have contacted Euro cafe on New North Rd in Eden Terrace after the Herald on Sunday queried the eatery's use of a potentially dangerous unflued outdoor heater inside.
A department spokesman said it would check for possible breaches of health and safety standards.
The heaters release nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide and are designed for outdoors, where the gas cannot build up. Euro said it would move the heater.
