Police believe they've cracked the case of the fossilised dinosaur egg stolen from Otago Museum on Tuesday.
Security footage from Dunedin central police station, where the egg was returned at an unattended counter on Thursday morning, and from the museum led police to believe it was an Invercargill man.
He will be spoken to by police. The hadrosaur egg was valued at $1700.
