A young motorcyclist died after being thrown from his bike in a crash in Wellington last night, police say.
The 22-year-old man was travelling south on Russell Terrace in the suburb of Newtown when he collided with a turning taxi about 11pm.
He was seriously injured when he was thrown from his Suzuki motorbike and died a short time after being taken to Wellington Hospital.
The taxi driver was not injured and was not carrying passengers at the time, police said.
Police specialised units carried out a scene examination and enquiries were ongoing.
The motorcyclist's next of kin had not yet been informed.
