Police have cordoned off a street in south Auckland after the body of a woman was found in a car.
Police said the death was being treated as suspicious but had not yet been classified as a homicide.
Inspector Lou Alofa said a member of the public called police today after noticing the woman sitting motionless behind the wheel.
"We attended with ambulance. We are now cordoning off the immediate scene and can confirm the person behind the steering wheel is deceased," Mr Alofa said.
"We are carrying out a thorough investigation until we can prove there was nothing suspicious to the death."
