Police have arrested a 33-year-old Wellington beneficiary, accused of running an international child pornography network, after he failed to turn up at Wellington District Court for sentencing this morning.
Daniel Moore was charged with knowingly possessing and distributing objectionable material depicting young children engaged in sexual acts. He was also accused of filming under a woman's dress on Wellington's Oriental Parade.
Detective Sergeant Warwick McKee from Wellington CIB said Moore was arrested at his home in central Wellington about 11am.
He did not resist, Mr McKee said.
The prosecution followed a US Secret Service investigation into a criminal network of people trading and distributing images of child sexual abuse.
A joint operation between the New Zealand Police and Department of Internal Affairs with the US Secret Service allegedly exposed Moore as one of two managers of the network.
Moore will reappear in the district court later today.
