A 18-year-old man who disappeared nearly a week ago has been located safe and well.
Ronald (Ronny) Tiakakainga was last seen at his Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt, home about 11.30pm last Wednesday.
Police said today it appeared he was staying with some friends in Upper Hutt.
The young man contacted his mother this morning when a friend told him a newspaper had reported him missing.
The mother then contacted police with the good news.
Police said they would visit Mr Tiakakainga and suggest he gave his family a heads up when intending to go away for a few days
