Armed police were called into action on Sunday after a report of a shot being fired from a suspected gang member's home at a car travelling along a street in the Whangarei suburb of Onerahi.
Police cordoned off Hodgson and Ngaio Sts at 4.45pm and about eight members of the armed offenders squad moved in.
* Officer in charge Detective Inspector Karyn Malthus asked for members of the public who knew anything about the shot or had information about the gang confrontation to call Whangarei police on 09-430-5400.
