A man died after falling 100m into the Tutaekuri River after attending a concert at the Sacred Hill Winery in Napier yesterday.
Police said the 47-year-old local was seen falling from the edge of a bluff about 10.30pm, as concertgoers were heading home from the Puketapu venue.
He was one of about 2000 people who attended the More FM Winery Tour show, featuring New Zealand music icons Bic Runga, Tim Finn and Dave Dobbyn.
Emergency services mounted a rescue effort, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
