More than 50 firefighters and 12 fire trucks fought a blaze in large building in the industrial area of Onehunga, south of Auckland overnight.
The Fire Service said the fire was contained to the front office and brought under control reasonably quickly but firefighters remained on standby throughout the night.
Fire safety officers were due at the building at first light to determine what caused the fire.
Damage was believed to be extensive.
