Two people were injured when their car went over a cliff into the sea at Orere Point near Auckland yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Orere-Matingarahi Road, about 70km southeast of Auckland, at 2.45pm.
The male occupant of the car was outside the vehicle when help arrived, but a woman trapped inside had to be freed by fire crews, northern fire communications shift manager Megan Ruru said.
They were taken to hospital by helicopter.
