A man will appear in court today after another man was attacked with a machete in central Hamilton last night.
The victim suffered wounds to his arm while trying to ward of a blow in Victoria Street around 11.30pm.
The offender was caught a short time later by police while being chased by the victim and four associates.
Police said that an 18-year-old would appear in Hamilton District Court today on charges of wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
The public have asked for help in finding the weapon which was thrown away by the offender as he fled.
