News that Auckland's North Western Motorway will be widened is getting the thumbs up from the Minister of Transport.
The New Zealand Transport Agency has today confirmed the multimillion dollar project will see an extra lane added between St Lukes and Westgate.
The causeway is also being raised.
Minister of Transport Steve Joyce is welcoming the news, saying the project is essential to the continued growth and economic development of the Auckland region.
He says the planned projects will help remove chokepoints and create better links for business and freight between key industrial hubs in the region.
