A French Tahitian tourist has been convicted of killing his wife in a Taranaki road crash.
Francis Louis George Gaiffe, 43, was driving on a road near Urenui on March 10.
He pulled to the right to avoid a 4WD, causing his car to move into the path of a Nissan Pathfinder, killing his wife Joelle Gaiffe, 57, and injuring himself and the two people in the 4WD.
He appeared in New Plymouth District Court on Monday.
He was ordered to pay the injured people $1000 each and disqualified from driving for two years, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
