A 50-year-old man with the mental ability of a child missing in South Auckland overnight has been found safe and well.
Police were concerned after Donald Wheatley left his Franklin respite home about 12pm yesterday and could not be found despite an extensive search.
Mr Wheatley had the mental ability of a 10-year-old, became anxious very easily and was required to take medication.
He was found just before midday at the Mobil Service Station on East Tamaki Road, Papatoetoe, police communications Inspector Barry Smalley said.
