Wellington's Armed Offenders Squad surrounded a property on the outskirts of Carterton in the Wairarapa last night and found a man sought in connection to a stabbing in Wellington on 20 August.
The 22 year-old-victim of the stabbing outside BP Roadmaster in central Wellington is still receiving treatment in Christchurch's Burwood Hospital spinal unit.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Cotter said Marshall Kerehi Mariu, 22, also wanted on warrant for failing to appear in court July 14 to answer a charge of assault, gave himself up to armed police without any incident.
Mariu will appear in the Wellington District Court this morning charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He also faces an unrelated charge of theft from a car.
Detective Senior Sergeant Cotter thanked the public for their help with the investigation.
