New Zealand police have been supplied with protective kits in the event of an outbreak of avian influenza.
The personal protection kits were developed as part of the police's planning for a possible pandemic, reported police magazine Ten One.
Superintendent Ray Van Beynen said the kits, in storage in a central location, could be deployed to districts within 24 hours.
