A Greymouth man was yesterday sentenced to six months' jail for threatening to kill a woman during a dispute over a whitebaiting spot.
Barry Ross Saunders, 43, admitted threatening to kill, threatening behaviour, and possessing a knife at the New River, at Camerons, on October 22.
He had gone down to the river at 5.30am and immediately began drinking. He then took exception when another party arrived at the river an hour later and set up camp in front of him.
