A former Rotorua district councillor has decided to represent himself in his fight against allegations he possessed images of child pornography. Chris Campbell, 36, will no longer be represented by lawyer Murray McKechnie.
Campbell was granted an extension after a defended hearing was set to have taken place in the Rotorua District Court this week., The matter is now set down for a hearing on September 6.
Campbell is accused of storing 73 images of child pornography on his personal computer. He is also accused of having three printed images of child pornography, three images of child pornography on a floppy disk and 24 images of adults having sex with animals. He faces a maximum fine of $2000.
