A briefcase left sitting outside Kadimah College and the Auckland Jewish Community Centre prompted a bomb disposal squad call-out yesterday morning.
Police closed inner-city Greys Ave for three hours after a staff member noticed the briefcase outside a door about 7.40am, said Senior Sergeant Antony Wilson.
A robot was used to detonate the case, which turned out to be empty.
