A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in relation to a shooting in Bryndwr, Christchurch yesterday.
The man will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow on one charge of aggravated robbery with a firearm causing grievous bodily harm, police said in a statement.
The 25-year-old victim of the shooting remains in Christchurch Hospital. Police said yesterday he had undergone surgery and they expected him to make a full recovery.
The man who has been arrested allegedly shot the victim after breaking into his house.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Ford said the man was shot by one of two intruders who entered his Morley St home in the northwest suburb of Bryndwr.
Police were still looking for a 1998 purple coloured Honda Accord, registration XC4771 in relation to the incident.
They asked anyone with information about the shooting to call Christchurch police on 03 363 7400 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Ford said the man was targeted by the intruders and there was no immediate concern for the wider community.
It was thought all those involved were known to each other.
