"We can create a more open, efficient and resilient grid that connects us, empowers us, improves our health and benefits us all."
Those are the words of US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on her web site, as she announced the goals she would bring to office.
Ms Clinton says the United States of America is at the dawn of a new era, and has promised to have half a billion solar panels installed throughout the country in her first four years , if she takes up office. Within ten years, she wants to see enough energy generated from renewable sources to power the equivalent of every home in the US.
This would result in a 700 percent increase in the United States' solar capacity. Clinton's campaign says this would eventually achieve the goal of making one-third of the nation's energy come from renewable sources.

Clinton says this is just the tip of the iceberg, with an armada of climate change policies to be released in the next few months.
"We will make America the clean energy superpower of the 21st century," she says. "This will create millions of jobs, and countless new businesses, and enable Americans to lead the global fight against climate change."
Clinton is currently leading in polls, suggesting she will be the Democrats' 2016 presidential nomination. Meanwhile, billionaire Donald Trump is leading in the race for the Republican nomination. However, polls are indicating he would be trounced by Clinton if the pair went head-to-head in the presidential election.
