The Wairoa District is continuing on its journey of transformation; from the launch of Rocket Lab, their well renowned internship programme, and the deep cultural elements that the entire District is built upon, this is an opportunity you do not want to pass up.
The Wairoa District Council is seeking a forward thinking Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide inspirational leadership, direction and management of the Council, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders from the District.
The CEO will act as the Council's key advisor to shape and develop innovative strategies and initiatives that will drive economic and social wellbeing. You will be in charge of developing organisational culture and capability; fostering innovation, empowering your team to deliver on the Council's vision, and will role model values based leadership that fosters positive can do attitudes and strengthens tikanga Māori.
You will act as the ambassador for the District, ensuring the Council builds and maintains valued relationships and productive partnerships with key stakeholders while championing and influencing the development of the district and its communities. You will have an affinity with iwi and an appreciation of the cultural elements of the Wairoa District.
The CEO will be supported by a strong Governance and Senior Management team in order to drive high performing teams focused on delivering quality services to the community.
The successful candidate will become invested in the community; working to seek out new and existing opportunities in the District.
You will have a good knowledge of the local government sector and a track record of success in senior management gained in the public or private sector.
