A campaign is underway to save one of the world's top 20 beaches here in New Zealand.
New Chums Beach in the Coromandel is under threat of being developed.
The campaign is happening on Matarangi Beach as it is easier to access, Green MP Catherine Delahunty said.
Ms Delahunty said it was hoped the human sculpture being constructed during today's activities would attract Prime Minister John Key's attention.
People were coming far and wide to take part in the campaign including Phil Keoghan from the show Amazing Race, she said.
She said that as the Minister of Tourism, Mr Key should have a vested interest in publicly protecting the beach for all time.
