The Oamaru blue penguin colony has its own version of a chick flick.
An infra-red camera has been set up to record the comings and goings in one of the colony's nest boxes, with the images beamed into a television monitor at the visitor centre.
The activities can also be watched on the colony's website.
Manager Denis Dove said the first person to spot newly hatched chicks in the nest would get a prize.
