The quakes have disrupted New Zealand Post services in Christchurch. NZ Post chief executive Brian Roche said no staff were reported injured, but the main mail processing centre at Orchard Rd was evacuated yesterday afternoon as a precaution. Preliminary assessments indicated no structural or plant damage.
Postal deliveries today might be interrupted because processing stopped yesterday and deliveries were subject to safe access for posties, Mr Roche said. CourierPost and Pace courier services would be operational, but could be affected by disruption to processing.
