GRAND FINALE: The Kaitaia Gymnastics Club competitive girls class at prizegiving earlier this month.

The last week of the year for the Kaitaia Gymnastics Club year saw annual prizegiving ceremonies held for the major competitive classes including competitive girls on Monday, December 7, competitive boys on Tuesday, December 8, and the recreational members on Wednesday, December 9.

TROPHY WINNERS. The club's major trophy winners/ top performers over the year were, Carol McConnell Trophy for Step 4-6: Jacinta Van der Linden, Kaitaia Gymnastic Senior Tumbling: Elleanor Kelly, Shine Novice Trophy: Mana Petersen, Bellingham Trophy for Steps 1-3: Lesley Blud, Bull Trophy up to Level 3: Hunter Thompson-Job, Kotare Krafts trophy for Level 4-6: Andrew Van der Linden. Junior Coach: Katie Bell and Trophy for Passion and Dedication: Bree McGlashon. Other results were as follows.

COMPETITIVE GIRLS. Tumbling, sub junior international: Elleanor Kelly 1st overall. Step 5: Jacinta Van der Linden 2nd vault, 1st bar, beam and floor; Shelby Callaghan 1st vault, 2nd bar, beam and floor. Step 3: Cassidy Foster 1st vault, 3rd beam and floor, 4th overall; Jessica McCarthny 1st bar, 2nd beam, 3rd overall; Nina Heron 3rd vault, 2nd= bar, 1st floor, 2nd overall; Vivienne Cosner 2nd vault, 2nd= bar, 1st beam, 1st overall.

Step 2: Annalys Riddle 2nd= bar, 5th overall; Aria Reed 3rd bar and floor, 4th overall; Bree McGlashon 3rd vault; Zara Riddle 4th Vault; Thalia Andrews 1st vault, 2nd beam, 3rd overall; Tiaawai Witana 2nd vault, 2nd= bar; 3rd beam 2nd floor, 2nd overall; Lesley Blud 1st bar, beam and floor, 1st overall; with merit awards for Jessie-Lee Beatson, Abigail Bull, Cheleyna Malley-Rivera and Ocean-Maree Robson.

Step 1: Anika Riddle 1st bar, 6th beam; Brooke Gamble 2nd vault, 4th beam, 6th floor, 5th overall; Isabella Nicolini 6th vault, 5th floor, Laurel Wilson 2nd beam; Starbright Hoani: 3rd bar; Paige Hall 5th vault and bar, 3rd beam, 4th floor, 4th overall; Pheonix Cassidy 1st vault and floor, 6th bar, 3rd overall; Roimata Clark-Fairclough 4th vault, 2nd bar and floor, 5th beam, 2nd overall; Raukura McNab 3rd vault and floor, 4th bar, 1st beam, 1st overall.

Pre-comp girls: Janie Bennett 3rd floor, 6th overall; Maia Tracey 4th= bar, 5th= beam 5th overall; Madeline Treanor 4th floor; Ella Harris 5th beam; Lauren Wanener 4th= bar; Micaela Travers 6th bar, 1st beam, 2nd floor, 4th overall; Manaia-Jae Holloway-Clark 3rd vault, 2nd bar, 5th= beam 3rd= overall; Teal Mallett 5th vault, 6th bar, 5th= beam, 1st floor, 3rd= overall; Zhara-Jane Cameron 4th vault, 3rd bar, 2nd beam, 2nd overall; Mana Petersen 2nd vault, 1st bar, 3rd Beam, 1st overall; with merit awards for Karli Horn and Aniraina Dudley-Petera.

COMPETITIVE BOYS. Level 5: Andrew Van der Linden 1st overall all apparatus. Level 2 and 3: Waikotahi Pitman-Going 1st vault, p-bars (parallel bars), floor and rings, 2nd h-bar (horizontal bar) and pommel, 1st overall; Scott Haines 1st h-bar and pommel, 2nd vault, p-bars, floor and rings, 2nd overall.

Level 1: Raymond Zhou 3rd floor and rings; Jacob Laurenson 1st vault, h-bar, 2nd floor and rings, 3rd pommel, 3rd overall; Noah Sunkel 1st floor, 2nd h-bar, p-bar and pommel, 3rd rings, 2nd overall; Kauri Himiona 1st p-bars, rings, pommel, 2nd vault and floor, 3rd h-bar, 1st overall.

Pre-comp: Te Manawa Chapman 3rd vault, rings, 2nd pommel, 5th overall; Wyatt Wilson 1st H-bar, 2nd p-bars, 3rd rings, 4th overall; Hiroshi Newman 3rd h-bar and floor, 2nd rings, 3rd overall; Kazuya Newman 1st vault, p-bars, 2nd floor and pommel, 2nd overall; Hunter Thompson-Job 1st floor, rings and pommel, 2nd vault and h-bar, 3rd p-bars, 1st overall; with a merit award for Harrison Cox.

As well, the club's annual recreational gymnastics competition prizegiving took place on Wednesday, December 9, and results were, seniors: Frano Panday 1, Matthew Fiveash 2, Taryn Knight 3; juniors: Aurora Price 1, Johnny Parsons 2, Kotai Eruera 3.

All gymnasts were congratulated for their efforts over the season and were also given some free time to try out apparatus they were both familiar with and had never tried at their respective end-of-year ceremonies.

Elsewhere a big thank you went to everyone who had helped out during the year, including coaches - adults, teenagers and children - along with the helpers, administration people, repairers, maintainers and cleaners, and parents: "without your voluntary help the club would not have had such a successful year".

- Kaitaia Gymnastic Club activities resume in the week starting February 8 with all the usual classes expected to return including playgym for pre-schoolers, Kiwi Gymfun, gym skills, pre-comp and competitive artistic gymnastics along with a new power tumbling class.
