Javelin was the sport to watch at Whangarei Boys' High School's athletics day when Ryan Morris broke the 2004 intermediate javelin record of 32.95m with a stunning 35.36m throw.
Four seasons rolled into one day for this year's athletics championships.
Regardless of the moody weather conditions, competition ran hot all day long for both whanau points and individual age group championship points.
An impressive group of up to 24 students earned themselves places at the Northland Secondary Schools Athletics Championships, with six juniors, nine intermediate students and nine seniors included in that group.
Championship whanau points saw Carruth come out on top with an impressive score of 417, followed closely by Bledisloe with 406 points. Marsden took out the third slot with 382 points, followed by Grey with 319, and Hobson brought up the rear with 300 championship points.
Senior champions: Troy Woodman 1, Bruno Watkins 2, Logan Millar 3.
Intermediate champions: Symon Whittaker 1, Royd Hodgson 2, Ryan Smith 3.
Junior champions: Marcus Hansen and Shane Eady equal 1, Trent Keogh 3.

The junior boys 100m race was an exciting one at this year's Pompallier Catholic College's athletics day when Krishna Nair broke the long-held sprint record.
Orginally set by V Hibbert in 1991 and tied by S Lewis in 1995 at 11.9s, Krishna ran a time of 11.6s, a record for the school and a time that cemented his place in races in the Northland Track and Field Championships.
Dowling was the winning house on the day with an impressive 974 points.
This included House Spirit points for Dowling's powerful cheers.
Joanna Taylor, House Captain of Dowling, set a sterling example for younger students by painting herself in blue and competing in lots of events to gain tonnes of participation points.
This year's champions are: Junior boy, Isaac O'Grady; junior girl, Gloria Blake; intermediate boy, Jack Rafferty; intermediate girl, Ria Gunson; senior boy, Michael McGregor; senior girl, Alesha Hodgson.
