Fine weather with plenty of sunshine this weekend should see more people flock to the region's beaches to take advantage of the increase in sea temperature.
The MetService is predicting sun in Whangarei today and tomorrow with the mercury set to hit highs of up to 26C before showers returnon Monday. The temperatures are unlikely to fall below 14C in Whangarei overnight for the next few days.
Kaitaia was forecast to start today with some cloud, giving way to a sunny afternoon and there is expected to be nothing but sunshine in the country's northernmost town tomorrow and highs up to 24C. The low is not expected to fall below 13C. Again, Monday will see showers return to Kaitaia.
Kerikeri is expected to have blue skies and sunshine today and tomorrow, with highs of up to 25C, and lows of about 12C, before more rain on Monday.
Dargaville, meanwhile, will get cloud mixed with blue skies today and total sunshine tomorrow, with highs between 19C and 20C expected and lows of about 15C. rain will hit the Kaipara on Monday, although it is not expected to be more than showers.
