Repeat drink-driver jailed for 15 months

A Northland repeat drink-driver more than three times over the legal alcohol limit has been jailed for 15 months.
David ROBERTS, 47, unemployed of Houhora, appeared in the Kaitaia District Court recently on charges of driving with excess breath-alcohol for a third or subsequent time and disqualified driving for a third
or subsequent time. Roberts was stopped by police on State Highway One, Te Kao, about 8.35pm on April 17, 2009. A breath test revealed a level of 1377 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath - more than three times the legal adult limit of 400mcg. Roberts was also a disqualified driver at the time. He was jailed for 15 months and disqualified from driving for a further two years.
The Northern Advocate is publishing its "name and shame" list of people convicted of drink-driving in the region. Also sentenced recently were:
Phillip Nicholas RAXWORTHY, 44, 603mcg, five months home detention, disqualified from driving for 14 months for seventh drink-driving conviction.
William James Joseph JOBE, 68, 194 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, 300 hours community work, disqualified from driving for 15 months for third drink-driving conviction.
Oscar Mac OKURA, 26, student, 493mcg, seven months home detention, 150 hours community work, disqualified from driving indefinitely for third drink-driving conviction AND, 444mcg, 7 months home detention for fourth drink-driving conviction.
Aaron Ross WHITEHEAD, 26, 60 hours community work, disqualified from driving for one year and one day for refusing an officer's request for a blood sample AND 837mcg, 150 hours community work and disqualified from driving for one year and one day.
Brien Maxwell GOODING, 18, 619mcg, 60 hours community work, disqualified from driving for six months.
Talanoa Fuka LUTUI, 30, 594mcg, $600 fine, disqualified from driving for six months.
Mitchell PHILLIPS, 23, unemployed, 515mcg, 60 hours community work, disqualified from driving for six months.
Jamie Leigh BATES, 29, 885mcg, 70 hours community work, disqualified from driving for six months.
Darren Shannon TANA, 21, unemployed, 609mcg, 80 hours community work, disqualified from driving for six months.
Keith Alan Royce BARCLAY, 23, arborist, 145mg, $150 fine, $132 court costs, disqualified from driving for seven months.
Legal limits - Aged 20 and above: 400mcg of alcohol per litre of breath; 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. Under 20: 150mcg of alcohol per litre of breath; 30mg of alcohol per 100ml.
