A Northland repeat drink-driver more than three times over the legal alcohol limit has been jailed for 15 months.
David ROBERTS, 47, unemployed of Houhora, appeared in the Kaitaia District Court recently on charges of driving with excess breath-alcohol for a third or subsequent time and disqualified driving for a third
or subsequent time. Roberts was stopped by police on State Highway One, Te Kao, about 8.35pm on April 17, 2009. A breath test revealed a level of 1377 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath - more than three times the legal adult limit of 400mcg. Roberts was also a disqualified driver at the time. He was jailed for 15 months and disqualified from driving for a further two years.

Legal limits - Aged 20 and above: 400mcg of alcohol per litre of breath; 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. Under 20: 150mcg of alcohol per litre of breath; 30mg of alcohol per 100ml.
