I want to be a district councillor because I am passionate about our youth, preventing youth suicide and keeping them out of jail because they are our future.

More needs to be done to help them in our community - such as a skate park that some local children are wanting, more organised events and listening to their wants and needs to keep them occupied.

Fruit trees need to be planted in our green areas to help out families that can't afford fresh fruit.

Whangarei finally has a new centre, the Town Basin, and it is really looking good.

It has been money well spent and appropriate spending should continue in the future.

I will do all that I can to stop car park fees in the Town Basin as car parks are not there to be a revenue gatherer for council.

The Town Basin is a great community walkway for locals and tourists and many businesses benefit from it.

We need to encourage people to go there as much as possible and not hamper it by expensive parking.

I can hold the council accountable and make sure that what it is doing is right and cost-effective.

No one wants to see their hard earned rates money wasted on unnecessary expenses.

This is why I want to be a district councillor and have a chance to make a difference.

I have worked in local government for 12 years prior to owning my own business and have attended many different council meetings during that time.

I have the skills for this position.
