More Northland liquor outlets have had their off-licences suspended as police crack down on outlets selling booze to underage youths continues.
The Liquor Licensing Authority has handed down suspensions to the Marsden Tavern, The Mill Liquor Save, Hikurangi Hotel and The Tutukaka Store for selling alcohol to minors.
The suspension period ranges from 24 hours to seven days, starting later this month.
Those outlets' general managers who were on duty at the time of the purchase will also have their certificates suspended for between three and four weeks.
The suspensions are a result of two joint operations involving the police, Northland Health and the Liquor Licensing Authority, carried out in March and June this year.
The outlets were found selling alcohol to volunteers, aged 17, without seeing identification.
In July, similar suspensions were given to Super Liquor Whangarei, Bream Bay Foodmarket, Otaika Liquor and Poroti Tavern .
Whangarei Sergeant Howard Clement, who is in charge of liquor licensing, said the operations had made licensees and managers more aware of their obligations and would continue.
"Generally the standards are good.
"However, it's disappointing when premises don't come up to the mark."
The Alcohol Accord was helping train staff and make sure they knew their responsibilities, he said.
