The City Rugby Club in Otangarei played a game against a combined Hikurangi and Horahora side to mark its 125th anniversary.
No scores were kept in the game of four halves at Fishbone Park in Otangarei on Saturday and coaching director Marcelle Kaipo said the game was a good way of celebrating the club's milestone.
Kaipo said City decided to invite Hikurangi and Horahora for a game as all three clubs had constantly played against each other over the last 125 years.
Hikurangi Rugby Club is 124 years old while Horahora was formed 97 years ago.
"We believe our club is older than 125 years. There's an additional nine years, we think, that's unaccounted for," Kaipio said.
"Apart from rugby, we unveiled out seniors and juniors honours board and two of our club stalwarts Wayne Otene and Carman Hetaraka spoke about the history of the club.
"We're lucky in that past members left a good legacy and created good values for us to follow and that enabled us to get this far as a club."
City will support Hikurangi celebrate its 125th during Easter holiday next year.
