If you're looking for a place to hide away and enjoy arts, crafts and entertainment - the library is the place to be.

There will be far more than just reading happening at the Whangārei Library tomorrow with a range of activities and entertainment at the seventh annual "A Big Day In".

Artwork from preschools around Whangārei, which were visited by the mobile library, will be showcased at the event in the Children's Art Exhibition.

Meanwhile, other arts and craft groups attending the event include The Falls Estate Arts and Craft Group, The Papermill, Sew Good and Boomerang Bags Whangarei.

If you're not crafty, the Hikurangi School Pacific Island Group will be performing at 10.15am, followed by the Community Choir at 10.30am and Scottish Country Dancers at 10.45am.

The event is for the whole family so children can take part in a story reading session, a storybook character challenge and visit the colouring-in station.

Other community groups attending the event include Eco Solutions Whangarei, Friendship Force of Whangarei, Girl Guiding New Zealand, Mangakahia Gardening Club, SeniorNet Whangarei, The Men's Shed, WINGS New Zealand, Yoga Ora - Holistic Wellbeing, and the Whangarei Youth Advisory Group.
