You don't have to have Scottish heritage to appreciate the amazing and colourful creations that are vying for honours at this weekend's Art 'n Tartan Wearable Art Awards at Waipū.
But having Caledonian genes may help appreciate the tartan creations that little bit more.
This year's event will be split into three shows - a magical "opening night" performance tonight, followed tomorrow by a fantastic afternoon "matinee performance" and finally topped off with an inspiring "awards evening" of light and sound tomorrow night.
However, given the popularity of the event both the Saturday shows have been sold out while at edition time yesterday, only limited tickets were available for tonight's show.
Art 'n Tartan Wearable Art showcases creative endeavour from designers young and old from around New Zealand.
The events promise to be a place where people can let their fancy take flight and step into a world where tradition meets fantasy.
All performances will be at the Waipū Celtic Barn on Caledonian Park.
Tonight's opening show starts at 8pm, while tomorrow's matinee is at 2pm and tomorrow night's award show is from 8pm.
The wearable art event celebrates heritage, community, and creativity, using tartan as a symbol of connection – the bright thread in the greater plaid.
A sell-out show every year, this event is huge fun for everyone who participates.
The show opens with a presentation of all entries, weaving music, light and artwork into a dramatised performance of wearable art and entertainment. The second half is a traditional Catwalk Section with commentary and projected images, between them providing detailed information about each artwork.
