Whangārei residents are being encouraged not to hold back if they get a call to take part in a survey about the Whangārei District Council.
The council's annual residents' survey is being carried out by independent research company Versus Research Limited (VRL).
Callers will be asking a representative sample of residents from 400 households to rate the council's services.
The results will be analysed by ward and demographics to identify trends and will be incorporated into key indicators in this year's annual report.
Council chief executive Rob Forlong said the council had been trying new ways of communicating with residents and gauging satisfaction over the past year, and continuing to run the annual survey would provide a consistent measure of any change from year to year.
"We want to know how people think we are doing this year, and what we can do to improve so I encourage anyone who gets a call from VRL between now and July 2 to spend the 25 minutes or so it will take to provide their views."
Survey responders will be contacted by landline, and as well as answering questions about the council they will be asked for their age, gender and ethnicity so researchers can make sure the survey reflects the district proportionately.
The council is also trialling an online survey, available on its Facebook page, which is in addition to the telephone survey.
