Northern Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Aidan Wong to the recently vacated position of competitions officer.
Wong has been working for NFF for 18 months in a part-time and fulltime capacity within the competitions and football development team.
He is well known within the football community, especially in the Harbour region, having played for Albany United, East Coast Bays, Glenfield Rovers, Rangitoto College and currently at Takapuna.
A graduate from Auckland University of Technology with a bachelor of sport and recreation majoring in sport management, Wong started with NFF last year as a competitions assistant.
He moved into the role of football/futsal administrator with the football development team in January.
This has allowed him to amass a wealth of knowledge about the competitions side of the federation while showing great attention for detail when stepping in to cover roles within the competitions team.
Chief executive John Limna said the NFF was excited by the appointment.
"We are really happy to be able to appoint someone of Aidan's knowledge and ability to step in to such a crucial role in the federation," he said.
"Aidan has already proven himself as a great asset to the federation, and has shown great dedication to any role that he is tasked with."
Wong said he is looking forward to this new challenge.
"Opportunities to work in the sport you have a passion for don't come around every day.
"It's going to be challenging as well as exciting to be focusing on competitions and engaging with junior and youth players in our region."
Wong's replacement as futsal/football development officer has also been appointed with Ben Bate stepping in until the end of the season.
