No one was injured when a fully laden logging truck and a Nissan car collided during rush hour traffic in Whangarei yesterday.
However the crash, above, did cause some traffic congestion while police cleared the scene.
A police spokeswoman said the crash happened on State Highway 1, outside the Otaika shopping centre about 8am yesterday.
Initial investigations have revealed a 47-year-old male driver pulled out of the parking area at the Otaika shops, to turn left on to Otaika Rd, southbound.
Police say he may not have noticed an approaching 40-tonne truck which was heading in the same direction. The truck hit the car on the driver's side, causing extensive damage to the car. The drivers were not injured in the collision.
Both drivers pulled over to the side of the road so there were no closures or cordons.
Police are investigating the crash and whether charges will be laid.
