A Northland man killed in a motorcycle accident in Australia will be farewelled by friends and family in Kerikeri on Saturday.
Chris Semb died when an oncoming car reportedly crossed the centre line and collided with his motorcycle near Bundaberg almost two weeks ago.
Mr Semb had been working in Australia and making regular trips home to see family in Kerikeri. He was expected to move home permanently at the end of the year.
Sharon Finlay-Semb described him as an "amazing husband".
It was not the first tragedy for the Kerikeri woman, who lost her father in New Zealand's worst aviation disaster.
Michael Finlay was a crew member on the Air New Zealand flight which crashed into Antarctica's Mt Erebus in 1979, killing all 257 on board.
Mrs Finlay-Semb said she had never fully come to terms with losing her father and now had to cope with her husband's sudden death.
A celebration of Mr Semb's life will be held at the Kerikeri RSA, Cobham Rd, at 11am on Saturday.
