Seven sheep were slaughtered and left in a paddock while five were stolen from a farm just north of Kamo at the weekend.

Whangarei police Sergeant Grant Rouse said a person looking after the farm north of Kamo near State Highway One received a call from the neighbour who could see some sheep had been killed.

The owner then turned up to find some sheep dead and five stolen.

Police are seeking information about suspicious activity in the area and asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 09 430 4500 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
