Shoe thief foots it
A burglar at a Whangarei business came prepared bringing rubbish bags to take away the stolen booty. Police Sergeant John Larkin said a shoe store on Bank St was broken into about 2am yesterday. The thief took a selection of boots and shoes, piling them into the plastic bags, after smashing a window to gain entry.
Bad day out
A man spotted allegedly hitting a woman in Raumanga was stopped driving with nearly more than two-and-a-half times the legal breath-alcohol level. The 48-year-old man was charged with male assaults female, driving with excess breath alcohol, driving while forbidden and careless driving.
Police hunt man
Northland police are looking for 41-year-old Kevin Alexander Thompson who failed to appear in court this month. He is facing two drink-driving charges. If anyone knows where he is they can contact Senior Sergeant Steve Dickson on 09 430 4602 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Kerikeri sex pest
Kerikeri police want to hear from anyone who knows the identity of a man who approached a woman near McDonalds and made comments of a sexual nature last Tuesday afternoon. The man was described as a Caucasian, aged between 40 and 50, of medium height and build.
