The bruises have faded, the bumps are gone and already boxers have set their sights on next year's charity boxing extravaganza.
The Shake Rattle and Roll charity boxing event at Forum North in Whangarei raised $15,000 which has been distributed to Red Cross, Salvation Army and Students Against Driving Drunk.
Earlier this month 24 fighters climbed into the ring as part of the event, with many of them having worked in Christchurch following the devastating earthquakes.
During the night cheques for $2500 were presented to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Another $2000 was given to both the charities along with $1000 for SADD.
Event organiser Constable Atawhai Henare said it was great to be able to help those organisations who had helped people in times of need in Christchurch.
Some of the police who boxed in the fundraiser had travelled south and walked the beat in Christchurch after the February quake and seen the devastation first hand.
Mr Henare was one of them.
"Seeing it for real and not just on TV made me realise how lucky we were but how devastating it was for the people of Christchurch."
Mr Henare said next year's event would be bigger and better with fighters already showing interest.
The Born To Fight Trophy, for fighter of the night, was presented to Constable Marion Evans who was in her first boxing match. Part of the prize package was a $2500 ring designed by Elite Jewellers, presented to Ms Evans recently.
