Whanganui police investigating the fire that ravaged the Chef's Kitchen in Fitzherbert Ave say it was a "deliberate fire with obvious points of ignition".
The investigation is still active but has not yet concluded.
The bakery and takeaway outlet was gutted in a fire on December 28, just two days after Fitzies Bakery and Cafe owner Ray Jaggard had taken ownership of it.
It had been closed since before Christmas.
By the time two fire trucks arrived at the scene about 3am, the building was well alight, windows had blown out and there had been a few small explosions inside.
A police spokeswoman said it was still an active investigation.
"This was a deliberate fire with obvious points of ignition, so inquiries are continuing," she said.
Police are also continuing to investigate a house fire in Kaikokopu Rd on November 13. They say the fire was suspicious and they are "following positive lines of inquiry".
Investigations also continue into a house fire and vegetation fires in Seafront Rd on December 29.
The empty house was extensively damaged and was condemned. The cause has not been determined and police are still speaking to witnesses and people who may be able to assist.
There was no indication that the fires were related, the spokeswoman said.
