Kihikihi – a teacher’s story

Andy Morgan turned up at Kihikihi School with the roll plummeting, staff resigning and a naked man riding a horse across the school field. Five years later, the roll decline has reversed and the school is an integral part of the community – a success which happened because those running the school started listening to the parents whose children attended. In a predominantly Maori community, embracing tikanga Maori made all the difference.
