Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island.

Situation:

A front moves over the North Island today, while another front weakening over the South Island early this morning and followed by a ridge. On Monday, the ridge remains over central New Zealand, while a third front approaches the far south and becomes slow moving there, and a southeast flow strengthens over the upper North Island.

Forecast:

Saturday: Northerly 15 knots rising to 20 knots this afternoon. Changing southerly 15 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time in the afternoon. Fair visibility in showers from afternoon.

Outlook:

Outlook until midnight Tuesday: Sunday: Southerly rising to 20 knots for a time in the morning, then easing to 10 knots in the evening. Cloudy periods, a few showers. Monday: Southerly 10 knots, turning easterly 10 knots early, and northeast 10 knots later. Partly cloudy, and drizzle at times. Tuesday: Northerly 10 knots, rising to northeast 15 knots for a time. Cloudy periods.

Swell:

Swell forecast to midnight Tuesday: Easterly 1.5 metres but 1 metre north of Portland Island, easing to half a metre everywhere today. Southerly half a metre, rising to 1 metre east of Cape Kidnappers to Mohaka for a time late Sunday through late Monday.
