Singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright is returning to Auckland's Civic for a show in September.
The Canadian star has played solo in Auckland twice before but this time will be bringing a full band in support his new album Out of the Game, which is being hailed as a return to his earlier pop charms.
The son of Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle will have another notable musical offspring in his band: Teddy Thompson, the son of Brit folk-rock luminaries Richard and Linda Thompson who has released his own string of well-received solo albums.
Also among Wainwright's backers is rising singer-songwriter Krystle Warren who will also be the night's opening act.
Wainwright's only New Zealand show is at The Civic on September 21.
Tickets are on sale via www.buytickets.co.nz at 9am on June 11.
