Billy Dee Williams will return in his role as Lando Calrissian for Star Wars: Episode IX.
The 81-year-old actor returns to the Star Wars film franchise for the first time since 1983's Return of the Jedi, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Lando Calrissian is one of the more popular characters from the Star Wars universe and featured heavily in Solo: A Star Wars series, where he was played by Donald Glover.
Rumours had been circulating that Williams was set to reprise his role after he pulled out of an upcoming convention citing a schedule conflict.
Williams joins a cast that includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Keri Russell.
The film will complete the trilogy that began with The Force Awakens in 2015 and The Last Jedi in 2017.
Star Wars: Episode IX marks the return of Force Awakens director JJ Abrams and is scheduled to hit cinemas at the end of 2019.
