As it made its appearance as a safety car at Melbourne's Gran Prix over the weekend, Mercedes-Benz NZ announced the pricing of the AMG GT S.
The 4-litre V8 biturbo sports coupe will be priced from $275,000 and goes on sale here mid-year.
The GT S was on show at the opening of Australasia's first AMG Performance Centre at Brisbane.
Mercedes-Benz NZ's general manager, Ben Giffin, told Driven he expected to sell around 30 of the front mid-engined two-seater.
"We are targeting Porsche 911 customers, and last year 28 were sold in New Zealand," said Giffin.
The GT S goes from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 310km/h.
The AMG centre was the first of 12 to open in Australia, with plans to open two in New Zealand.
Giffin expected the first to open in Auckland by the end of this year. Christchurch was expected to be the second venue.
Brisbane's AMG Performance Centre is a separate centre from the main dealership with fittings from Germany.
