The See Her Be Her Festival kicks off on Tuesday with a week of speakers and activities to promote sport and active recreation to women and girls in the Manawatū.
The first event in the Strong Room in Feilding features Bulls resident Kym Skerman, a multisport and adventure racer.
Skerman will be speaking about the highs and lows in her active recreation and sport career.
The following morning a breakfast will be held at the Manawatū Golf Club, with a panel of speakers talking about how to engage youth to keep them involved in sport and active recreation.
The speakers, who have played at a variety of levels within their sport, include Kristina Sue (rugby union, rugby league, sevens and touch), Caterina Poletti (rugby union) and Georgia Atkinson (cricket).
The Women in Coaching (WICKED) programme is being launched on Thursday night at the Sport Manawatū Palmerston North office, with guest speaker Yvette McCausland-Durie.
The Play, Active Rec and Sport Conference finishes off the working week with a full-day conference held at Manfeild.
The conference is a series of workshops and presentations by local and national speakers and facilitators: NZ football president Dr Johanna Wood, Rodney Wong, Mark Cleaver, Sport NZ's Alex Chiet and more.
